A serious two-vehicle crash occurred around 4:00 p.m. today at the intersection of Greenfield Road and Baseline Road, near the border of Mesa and Gilbert, Arizona. The collision involved an Acura and a Lexus, both sedans driven by adult males. According to preliminary reports, the Acura t-boned the Lexus in the middle of the intersection.
The impact was so severe that the driver of the Lexus had to be extricated from his vehicle by the Gilbert Fire Department with assistance from Gilbert Police. Both vehicles sustained extensive damage, and airbags deployed in each car.
A T-bone collision, also known as a side-impact crash, occurs when the front of one vehicle strikes the side of another—forming a “T” shape. These types of accidents are especially dangerous because the sides of vehicles typically offer less protection than the front or rear. Injuries from T-bone crashes are often severe and, in many cases, catastrophic—including broken bones, internal injuries, traumatic brain injuries, or spinal cord damage.
The full extent of injuries in today’s crash is still unknown, but given the nature of the impact and need for extrication, serious injury is likely.
If you or a loved one has been injured in a crash like this, it’s important to seek medical care immediately and speak with an attorney who understands how to protect your rights.
