Motorists in the Phoenix area should prepare for significant freeway closures and restrictions this weekend due to maintenance and improvement projects. According to the Arizona Department of Transportation (ADOT), these closures will affect sections of Loop 101 and Interstate 10 from January 17 to 20.
Key Closures and Detours:
- Eastbound Loop 101 (Pima Freeway): Closed between Cave Creek Road and State Route 51 from 9 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday. Drivers are advised to use Union Hills Drive or Deer Valley Road as detour routes.
- I-10 Deck Park Tunnel Maintenance:
- Eastbound I-10 closed from the I-17 “Stack” to SR 51 “Mini-Stack” from 9 p.m. Friday to 9 a.m. Saturday.
- Westbound I-10 closed from the I-17 “Split” to Seventh Avenue from 9 p.m. Saturday to 9 a.m. Sunday. Ramps connecting to I-10 from SR 51, Loop 202, and I-17 will also be closed. I-17 is recommended as a detour.
Broadway Curve Improvement Project:
- Eastbound I-10 reduced to two lanes from I-17 to 32nd Street and three lanes from Southern Avenue to Baseline Road for bridge and pavement work.
- The westbound US 60 ramp to eastbound I-10 will also be closed. Drivers should detour via the Broadway Road exit.
